So today was pretty windy and rainy and I wasn’t really feeling up to getting out in the elements. I took todays photo on my phone while I was taking a tour of the oneok building. The company I work for was recently purchased by another local company and we were looking at the datacenter in the new building and where we might one day be moving offices. I wish I could say I was excited, but change is not something I deal with very well. Oh well, I’ll survive. I took this photo of the stairs leading to the lower level of the building. The back wall is illuminated and the way the lighting bounced down the stairs was interesting. Unfortunately, the photo does not do it justice and I am to blame. I will have to return with my camera one day soon if allowed.
Since the weather was not great and I was not feeling very motivated to get out in it I spent my evening filing away film negatives and making some 4×6 prints of the last few weeks photos so that I can stare at them and see if there is actually anything worth keeping in an album vs the shoe boxes. I was looking at this photo of a blue chevy front end and I kept coming back to it. There was something there, but also something missing. I just started goofing around with the new tools in photoshop and luminar neo and ended up with this final result. It’s been a good decade since I have done any graphic design and I’m sure even if I could find my wacom tablet that it would be too old to do any good. I guess I’ll have to add a drawing tablet to my wishlist as I forgot how fun it can be to do a little digital art on top of your photos.
Here is the result, as well as the before shot.
I don’t want to lean on photoshop and edits too much, but I do think every now and again this could be fun. I might try to put together a small collection of “art” pictures in the future as a little side project from the more serious photography. It just depends on how many other shots I have that lend themselves to the edits so nicely.
