One Photo A Day – Day 64, 301 to go…

Posted on September 23, 2023January 24, 2025 By lonniebruton

Am I insane? Is it actually possible to keep this up for another 301 days? Honestly, I don’t know. Some days are better than others. If you asked me this time last week, I would have probably been in the mindset that I was ready to give up at 60 days and spend more time in between sessions. If you ask me today. I would say hell yeah, brother!

I really like the photo’s I took last night and when I woke up this morning and started doomscrolling on Facebook I saw that there was going to be a mustang gathering at the local drive-in. I eventually made it down there at about 2pm only to find out that they mostly cut out early due to a potential severe thunderstorm passing through. There were a couple of cars left, and as I did not see any of the other cars, I will have to say that these were the two best cars I saw at the show. The owners were very gracious and allowed me a few minutes to capture some photo’s before they too packed it up and headed out.

Since I only had about 5-10 minutes to work with, I tried to get as many shots as possible on my 35mm camera and I only got about 12-15 shots on the Rebel T7. Of those shots I felt that these three were worthy of posting online. I will without a doubt share mostly the same three images but shot on Kodak Ultramax 400 in a week or so provided the fix to my camera worked.

Speaking of the fix for my camera. I think I was able to diagnose the problem and I may have corrected it. I shot the last of my HP5 at the Desert Hills Motel last night. The camera was still malfunctioning for this roll so it’s about 50/50 if the shots will be fully exposed.

I found that after I removed the film that there was indeed a thin strip of black goop on the back of the shutter blades. I took some 91% alcohol and several qtips and very gently wiped the blades off until each qtip wipe came up with no residue. I did this for the inside of the camera box as well. I test fired multiple shots shining a light through the box to verify that the mechanism was indeed working as it should. I was hoping to shoot the entire roll so I could have it developed and confirm that the fix worked. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.
