The weather for this afternoon’s walk was fantastic! It was the perfect time to take the new Canon M200 out for a street photography session. I was kind of bummed when I noticed that the streets were virtually empty today. I guess everyone who works downtown took the day off to enjoy the first weekend of perfect weather we have had in a long time.
Out of the photos that I took there were only a handful of photos worth keeping as notes. A couple of these might be Instagram worthy, I have not decided yet. I’m trying to be more selective of the content I post to Instagram as I have started to gain followers and people seem to be liking my content. I don’t want to spam them with shitty photos.
I am considering making a few Instagram accounts, or at least a couple. One for nothing but Street Photography, one for nothing but Film photography, and then my main photo dump. Ideally this would be the best way to present my work to the world. However, on the flip side is that this would be a ton of work curating and uploading. I’m also already spending most of my time outside of work either going on walks and taking photos, editing the photos, or more recently making prints of the photos. I think it might be best to hold off on specialization until I at least complete this 365 photo challenge.
I really enjoy this photograph. As I was walking down the street I looked over and noticed a group of children playing kickball in an urban area. Then a few moments later a cargo train came through and I was able to capture this image. I only noticed when I got home and pulled it up on the computer that the word “absurd” is spray painted on the train car. I wish I could tell you that this was intentional, and now that I’ve confessed it was not. It’s too late to lie about it 🙂
This was the second most interesting photo that I took today, not only was I super excited to see some life on the street today, the giant backpack, hat, and beard is not something you see every day.
This one was originally going to be a black and white, at least that’s what I envisioned when I was taking it. I stopped at Fassler Hall for lunch and since it was such a beautiful day they had the bay doors open and from our long table the subjects positioned in front of the bright light from outside created a nice silhouette. I decided to stick with color for this image since it’s pretty muted and mostly monotone already.
I thought that this man was pretty interesting riding a giant grown up tricycle through the sidewalks.
I also snapped a few shots of some buildings so that I could capture how beautiful the sky and clouds were today.
The last few photos I found to be a little less interesting. The man leaning on the handicapped sign had potential, but I feel like it would have been better with a little more zoom. The manhole was cool, but it’s just a manhole. haha.
That’s all folks.
