This building has been part of my hometown since as long as I can remember. The past decade or so has not been kind to it. I stopped by and met the new owners who were on site trying to clean it up and make repairs so that it will be preserved and not demolished. It was built in 1918 by members of several local tribal nations. It eventually would become a western wear store where my earliest memories of the building take place and over the years it has hosted many different types of businesses before ultimately being abandoned a few years ago. The photo I chose as the “one” is an old shovel that was leaning near the entrance. There was just something appealing about the green plant life at the base and the worn handle that made the shovel appear as if it were abandoned with the building decades ago.
