Happy Sunday, Have an update!

Posted on November 5, 2023January 24, 2025 By lonniebruton

So, I’ve done a pretty shitty job at posting any updates to this blog the past couple of weeks. But fear not, I have been active and taking photographs, so I did not give up on my passions or anything like that!

I have been spending a lot of time posting and interacting with people on the new Threads platform. It seems to be fostering quite the following with photographers and artists. I like that it’s easy to mute topics/subjects and the algorithm is very good at promoting engagement. I don’t feel like I’m pissing in the wind when I post there. Like I do here, on Facebook, and IG.

I took a walk around downtown and pretty water lake this week and got a few good shots. This one of the little girl playing with the fishing line in the boat is 🔥 I’ve been learning quite a bit more about file organization and management in lightroom and have started going back and re-editing some of my original photos as well as creating proper collections for them.

Here are a few of the pictures from the very first week I got my first camera and went to the Zoo. I reworked the Lizard in black and white because the glare/glass plus the yellow heat lamp just made it very un-appealing in color and I never shared/printed them until today. I spent quite a bit more time on the photo of the parrot. I’ve done this one a few times as I have about 30 frames of him to work with. I went with a Portra 800 color profile and spent quite a bit of time dodging and burning the background to give it that nice contrast. In the original the background was far too bright and pulled your eye away from the parrot.

I also spent a little bit of time trying to pull off an Aerochrome look with one of the lake photos. I don’t know if it’s accurate to what Aerochrome looks like, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

Anyhow, I just wanted to make sure to post an update just to let everyone know that I am in fact alive and that I’ve just been very distracted making new friends on the threads.
